What is Alpha-Phellandrene?
Alpha-Phellandrene, called phellandrene for short but not to be confused with Beta-Phellandrene, gets its name from eucalyptus phellandra. Although phellandrene derives its name from the narrow leaf eucalyptus, it is also the primary terpene in broad leaf eucalyptus (eucalyptus dives) essential oil. Just like eucalyptus, isolated alpha-phellandrene has a pleasing citrus, minty scent. Phellandrene is also found in the common cooking ingredient allspice. This terpene is a monoterpene, meaning it has two isoprene units.
